Dr. Monica F. Boyd-Layne is the founder and owner of Pierce Counseling & Consulting, a growing practice committed to supporting clients through life transitions, identity exploration, and healing. With over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Dr. Monica brings compassion, clarity, and deep respect for the complexity of each client’s inner world.

Her work is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a powerful approach that honors all parts of the self—including those that protect, strive, shut down, or self-criticize. Dr. Monica specializes in trauma healing, racial identity development, and working with members of the Queer community. She partners with clients to help them shift self-defeating patterns, deepen self-compassion, and reconnect with their sense of purpose and wholeness.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Monica is an Associate Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. She offers clinical supervision for licensure in Illinois, consultation for experienced clinicians, and facilitates workshops, trainings, and speaking engagements across the country. Her contributions to the field include peer-reviewed publications and national conference presentations.
